American Period Furniture

The journal runs at least a hundred pages of original editorial each year — long-form articles on tools, techniques, design, and the history of the craft and its makers. Printed in the United States on durable gloss paper, intended to be part of your reference library for years to come.

Edited by Robert W. Lang. Articles come from members — working makers, conservators, historians — who don't need to be experienced authors. The editors are experienced at smoothing the process from idea to article, for anyone with knowledge to share.

Twenty-five volumes and counting.

Pins & Tales

Where the journal is long-form research, Pins & Tales is what's happening across the chapters — the visiting maker at the New England meeting, the study group on hand-cut dovetails, the Makers Challenge entries that just came in, the maker who finally finished a Federal sideboard he's been at for two years. Published as a PDF in March, June, September, and December.

Local-chapter reporting, profiles of working builders, a calendar of what's coming up. Pins & Tales is where the community gathers each quarter.
